Nvidia has revealed that Forza Motorsport will be getting a new PC-only update on December 9 that adds ray-traced global illumination lighting (RTGI) to further enhance the game’s already-stunning visuals.
Basically, RTGI uses existing illumination technology to compute more accurate indirect lighting and occlusion across tacks and cars in real-time. As a result, the game’s hyper-realistic graphics are even more impressive. This extends to every aspect of the game, including gameplay, cinematics, and photo mode.
RTGI can be turned on by setting the “Raytracing Quality” option to “Full Reflections + RTGI,” and then choosing a quality level under “RTGI Quality.” The feature will surely require high-end hardware and impact your frame rate, so Nvidia suggests enabling either DLSS or DLAA to help compensate.
