UK-based Starling Cycles have been manufacturing steel mountain bikes for the last ten years, applying founder Joe McEwan’s core values and amassing somewhat of a cult following. Alongside the update to their V3 frame design, Starling also introduced a new model to the range called the Mega Murmur. This is their longest travel and most aggressive core production bike to date.
When it came to building up a long-term test bike for 2024, the Mega Murmur was an obvious choice. Thanks to its simplicity, I’d theoretically be able to assess the performance of the components bolted to the Mega Murmur more easily. And of course, I was extremely excited to see exactly how well Starling’s design would apply to this longer travel platform. Here’s how my rig for 2024 performed.
