Take a look at the RMCR Concept, from the Harley-Davidson (H-D) Design Department. Inspired by the XLCR cafe racer from the late 1970s, the RMCR is H-D’s modern take on the cafe racer style.

Carrying the Revolution Max V-twin engine, the RMCR features lots of carbon-fibre, paired with a two-into-two exhaust. The Revolution Max engine displaces 1,250 cc, and is currently featured on the H-D Pan American and the Sportster models, and in 975 cc form, the Nightster.

There is a resemblance to The Bronx, a H-D model shown at EICMA 2019, and supposed to herald a new generation of more modern motorcycles designed to appeal to younger riders and those not enamoured of the chrome laden barge style of the current crop of H-Ds. However, Bronx was cancelled by H-D in 2020, the Milwaukee firm instead preferring to focus on its core market of large displacement V-twin cruisers and tourers.

H-D, on its social media, has asked for public feedback on the RMCR. Is the RMCR an indication of a new market direction for H-D, moving away from the traditional cruiser market?
