[[{“value”:”What do you get if you mix the counter-based combat from Batman: Arkham Asylum with a rhythm boss rush? You get Dead as Disco, my current PC gaming obsession. This early access title is a literal beat-em-up: you’re fighting bad guys to the beat of the music, and the closer you get, the harder you hit.
Though the game is a long way from finished, I haven’t been able to put it down since I tried the demo, and I bought it early access on day one. The mix of fighting and grooving reminds me a lot of Hi-Fi Rush, though I think anyone who likes the fighting system in games like Arkham, Shadow of Mordor, or early Assassin’s Creed will dig it. And of course, if you like rhythm games, this is your jam, offering a mix of rock, punk, rap, and pop. Even in its early access state, you can load up your own custom songs.
Even though the graphics can get pretty intense in the showpiece boss battles, it runs great on handhelds, just make sure you playing it with some quality cans. Dead as Disco is $25 on Steam in early access, and again, there is a free demo.
