[[{“value”:”I met Tom Woods last year while testing the Zerode G3, during which he showed me his Vibe Bikes Serpa. Fastforward to this year, and I managed to convince Tom to let me put this prototype high pivot single speed park bike to the test on the trails of Skyline Bike Park in Queenstown, NZ.
Skyline gets blown out by February, and though their dig crew is active and constantly doing its best to keep the trails running good, they can get rough. As such, a downhill bike is more enjoyable to ride, and a comfortable and simple machine could be beneficial over a long season of bike park lapping. Tom and his Vibe Bikes Serpa project intends to deliver this simplicity for the carefree rider who cares more about maximizing laps and beers over minimizing lap times. The “Pubs Over Podiums” motto Vibe uses sums things up effectively.
Since it’s a prototype and Tom has many plans for updates for the V2 frame that’ll be produced shortly, I’ll let the video do the lifting and showcase what the Serpa V1 prototype consisted of and what you can expect for the future production machine. To sum up my experience, though, I was able to hop on board the Serpa V1 prototype and immediately begin the good times in the bikepark, with limited fiddling required to modify the setup. To me, that is about as good as you could hope from a first-generation prototype machine, so hats off to Tom for killing it with this one!
