Are you hoping to complete A Bulwark Against Darkness in The Blood of Dawnwalker? This multi-stage quest becomes available several hours into the campaign, and only if you’ve been doing certain activities. If you manage to obtain specific items, you’ll be able to craft the legendary Arbiter armor set.
A Bulwark Against Darkness – The legendary Arbiter armor set
To start A Bulwark Against Darkness in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you need to reach level 4 infamy–i.e. Notorious tier. That means sabotaging the operations of Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe, enough to earn Brencis’ ire.
Once you reach Notorious tier and you get the edict cutscene, travel to the Crossroads Inn where Anca resides. Anca will tell you that a messenger left a letter, and it seems there are others out there who want to offer you aid.
Armor components and the uriash blacksmith
The Blood of Dawnwalker Arbiter armor set consists of four gear pieces. That means you have to collect four components. These are all mentioned in the second letter that Anca hands to you.
- Large Lizard Moult
- Flask of Quicksilver
- Silk Threads
- Relic of a Saint
The document also informs you of the location of an uriash blacksmith, Nareh, who can be found in the northwestern hinterlands. Note that she’s also the same NPC who helps you with the Forge It Anew quest.

Large Lizard Moult location
The Large Lizard Moult can be found in a cave in the marshlands between Briar Sloughs and Maragir Wealds. The opening is a bit hard to spot. However, if you’ve already tackled the Gilded Gauntlet/Bittersweet Toast quest, then you might recall that this area is close to where you performed the ritual for Iulian. In fact, the lizard is the one that Vera was hunting before she died.
Look for a small opening (left) and take the Large Lizard Moult (right).
Flask of Quicksilver location
There’s only one Flask of Quicksilver location that we know of, and it’s high up in Ambrosius Tower. To get it, you must enter the tower and complete the Home Sweet Home quest by escaping the time loop. After Coen takes out the astrologer in a cutscene, head to the ritual room at the top floor of the tower and grab the item from the desk.
Silk Threads location
There are two Silk Threads in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and both come from the quest chain where you help the Sanzhani fairies.
- Come Hither – We recommend doing this since it lets you get a Silk Thread for free. However, you have to defeat a Murohn so you can pick up the item in its lair.
- Pearly and Precious – The Sanzhani that you help here sells a Silk Thread, but it costs nearly 6,000 denarii. We definitely don’t recommend wasting your money on this item.
Relic of a Saint location
If you’ve been exploring much of the game world, then it’s likely that you’ve found half a dozen saint’s relics. You can pick whichever one you want, since this requirement for The Blood of Dawnwalker Bulwark Against Darkness quest isn’t particularly strict.
- Saint’s Finger/Tibia and Relic of St. Tyna – Both of these are obtained as part of Anca’s Echoes of Silenced Bells quest.
- Relic of St. Tobias – You pick this up while doing the Night of Horrors quest, which is also where you get to romance Lacra.
We recommend handing over either the Saint’s Tibia or the Relic of St. Tobias, since they’re just uncommon and rare junk items, respectively. The Relic of St. Tyna is an epic amulet, while the Relic of St. Dasius is a legendary amulet, so you probably don’t want to get rid of those.
You’re better off using either the Saint’s Tibia (left) or Relic of St. Tobias (right).
The ritual for the legendary Arbiter armor set
Once you have all the components, bring them to Nareh, the uriash blacksmith. Now, it’s time to make The Blood of Dawnwalker Arbiter armor set. Nareh says that you have to undertake a ritual, which costs 3x Time Segments. You’ll have to face a pack of wolves, followed by a bear. After defeating all the wild animals, you’ll receive the fully enhanced set:
- Enhanced Armor of the Arbiter (heavy chestpiece) – Weapon damage, claw damage, witchcraft ability damage, and AC restoration (actions).
- Enhanced Shin Guards of the Arbiter (heavy trousers) – Witchcraft ability cooldown, AC restoration (passive), AC restoration (actions), and AC restoration (perfect blocks).
- Enhanced Bracers of the Arbiter (heavy bracers) – Maximum vampiric health, vampiric health segment regeneration, blood drinking restoration, and weapon damage.
- Enhanced Boots of the Arbiter (heavy boots) – Maximum human health, human health restoration, maximum stamina, and magical damage reduction.
