Ever wished your Fiori home page could show more without getting crowded? Placing four or five separate tiles side by side quickly makes a dashboard messy and hard to scan. The SAPUI5 SlideTile control solves this by letting several tiles share one slot and rotate automatically. In this blog, I walk through a simple project with two SlideTile controls, one with default timing and one with custom timing. Each slide uses GenericTile, TileContent and NewsContent to show a background image, a headline, a sub heading and a footer. You will see how displayTime and transitionTime control the speed, how the state property shows a failed tile, and how the press event reacts to clicks. I also explain why using the standard control is better than writing your own timer, animation and CSS. The steps are short, and every code snippet is ready to copy into your own project. Along the way, I share the image path issue I faced and how to avoid it. Read on to build a clean, rotating news and highlights section in minutes.
