Following its announcement at WWDC 23, macOS Sonoma is now available to download as a free software update for Mac users. You’ll need a 2018 or later MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or Mac mini to jump in. Owners of the 2019 or later iMac and Mac Pro are also onboard. The Mac Pro 2019 and 2023 are also supported as are the 2022 and 2023 Mac Studio models. The oldest supported device on the list is the 2017 iMac Pro.
