Porsche is debuting their first hybrid 911 in just a few days and we have some new details, good and bad.
It has a 400v electric system, but won’t have Active Ride like the Taycan and Panamera Hybrid. That’ll have to wait until a full battery electric 911 appears in 2028. The 911’s hybrid system was designed to create horsepower and not for efficiency, which is why it has a small battery like the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. So the battery will be powering front wheel motors and providing electric assist to the turbos, helping to reduce turbo lag and boost threshold, with a system derived from the LeMans winning Porsche 919 LMP1 hybrid race car.
