“I don’t miss professional cycling at all, because I continue to ride.”
Former professional cyclist, Abraham Olano, retired from the sport in 2002 after an illustrious career that included two world championships and, a Vuelta a España victory, among numerous other top finishes.
After his career, Olano still had a love for cycling but admitted to feeling the burnout of having to push his body to the limit day in and day out to be competitive at the elite level.
Now, Olano shares his continued passion for cycling coaching young riders who attend his former school in the Basque Country, along with just enjoying the feeling of riding for the fun of it. Revisiting his old training routes on his new Defy Advanced E+ Elite and joining in on local group rides where the conversation and the views are the priority.
