The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has just been remastered almost two decades since the original release, and it includes every single expansion pack and DLC that was offered in the original game. This includes the Knights of the Nine expansion, and in this guide, we will try to help you with one of the puzzles you will find in Fort Bulwark, which is a part of the Wisdom of the Ages.
Rodgars Chest Puzzle Guide | Wisdom Of The Ages Quest
The “Rodgar’s Chest” part of the Widsom of the Ages quest is actually an extremely simple puzzle that only requires you to do a bit of trial and error or just basic critical thinking, unless you already know the solution, that is.
Simply put, your goal in this room is to grab the item from the center chest and then place each of them in the correct chest elsewhere in the room. Whenever you step on the pressure plate just in front of the chest in the middle, an item will appear above one of the other chests in the room.
This pressure plate is essential. Whenever you trigger an item to appear over the chest, take note of it so that you know which item goes into that chest. If you still have not gotten the full solution, try a random chest for now so you can claim a new item in the middle.
Below is an example of what it looks like whenever you step on the pressure plate and an item appears over one of the chests. In this image, this is the northeastern chest, which is showing that this is where the Rodgar’s Stone item goes:
You cannot actually pick up these floating items, so do not bother trying to run over there to do so. Each time you try to insert an item in one of the chests, a random item of Rodgar will appear in the central chest.
Through trial and error you should eventually be able to identify which chests each item goes, and the statues will turn around as their respective chests receive the correct items.
If you want to skip all of the puzzle solving, you can just completely ignore the pressure plate mechanic and just immediately place the items in the correct chests. In total, there are eight Rodgar’s items, and you have to place them in the following chests:
Rodgar’s Gem – Northwestern chest, the one at the very corner.
Rodgar’s Skull – Western chest, directly to the left of the one at the center.
Rodgar’s Hammer – Southwestern chest, second from the doorway you entered from.
Rodgar’s Book – Southwestern chest, just beside the door leading to the previous room.
Rodgar’s Stone – Northeastern chest, as we have shown in the example earlier.
Rodgar’s Helm – Eastern chest, directly to the right of the one at the center.
Rodgar’s Goblet – Southeastern chest, second from the doorway.
Rodgar’s Sword – Southeasternchest, right beside the door on the other side of where the book goes.
When all of the items have been placed in the correct chests, all of the statues should now be facing the front. This will open up the next part of the fort, which is pretty much the last part you need to explore. From there, just follow the quest marker and you will be done in no time.
That is pretty much everything you need to know in order to solve this very simple, but understandably kind of confusing puzzle.
