The Rowdy Race is a special challenge from Diddy and Dixie that you can take on in the Racing Layer of Donkey Kong Bananza. It’s a much harder version of their race. They’ll spare no expense to make sure they leave you in the dust, making it surprisingly challenging. Nonetheless, there’s a very nice trick you can use to win with ease… and that’s what we’re going to teach you with this guide!
Rowdy Race Guide for Diddy & Dixie Race | Donkey Kong Bananza
As soon as the race starts, Diddy and Dixie will shoot out in front of you. In doing so, they’ll flip the terrain switch before you. Due to that, just go left and break as much of the Liftoff Ore as possible there. Your goal is to simply fill up your Liftoff gauge here. Don’t bother trying to catch up to Diddy and Dixie for now. Just focus on Liftoff Ore and avoiding the mud.
Eventually, you’ll reach the tunnel near the end of the circuit. When you do, look for the rainbow ramp to your left as a reference. It’s time to “cheat” a little bit as soon as you see the ramp!
Start steering left once you see the ramp and use your Liftoff to go off the circuit. If you have a full Liftoff gauge, you’ll be able to essentially make a bridge as a shortcut across the circuit’s gap, putting you back next to the finish line. It can be a bit hard to get right at first, but it’s doable with a full Liftoff gauge.
Now all that’s left for you to do is to continue racing the next 2 laps as normal. Use the bridge you left behind every time to skip a substantial chunk of the circuit, allowing you to easily overtake Diddy and Dixie. Thankfully, they don’t use your shortcut.
Remember to collect any Liftoff Ore you can during laps 2 and 3, though. Having more Liftoff gauge will help you correct your course and avoid the mud in case you need to.
