The Avinox-travaganza continues with Forbidden joining the party, updating its Druid E e-MTBs with the latest Avinox M2 drive system.

An Overview of the Forbidden Druid E

Forbidden was an early adopter of the Avinox system, jumping on board in early 2025 with the launch of the electrified version of its Druid high-pivot platform.

When it was first launched, the Druid E came in two travel options: the Druid LitE, seeing 140mm of rear squish and a 150mm fork, while the CorE saw 10mm of extra travel at both ends. Going forward, the LitE will be no more, and all of the new Druid Es with the Avinox M2 and M2S motor systems will be 150 mm rear travel with a 160mm fork.

Beyond that, the frames will be unchanged, so no changes to geometry or suspension kinematics.

The magic of the Druid E is its high-pivot suspension, and the 150mm of rear travel has almost 19mm of horizontal movement.

The all-new Avinox M2 motor

The new Avinox M2 motor comes in two specs, the M2S and the M2. The M2S offers an earth-shaking 130 Nm of torque and 1,300W of peak power, with the Boost mode upping the torque to 150Nm for 60 seconds at a time. The M2 version still packs a wallop with 1,100W of peak power, 110Nm and 125Nm in boost. Both can be paired with the existing 800Wh or 600Wh battery.

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the M2S motor is technically capable of pumping out 1,500W in boost mode; however, that requires the new 700Wh battery, which, for the time being, seems to be only available in the new Amflow PX Carbon and PR Carbon.

That little red label has created quite a lot of hubbub over the last 24 hours, and Forbidden is one of the many brands upgrading its bike to the new Avinox M2 motor.

Forbidden will be utilising both motors for the updated Druid E, with the more expensive Tier 1 and 2 bikes seeing the more powerful M2S system, while the Tier 3 and 4 builds will get the M2 system.

There is a lot to cover with this new motor; check out Wil’s detailed write-up for all of the juicy details on the Avinox M2.

We’re hoping to get one of the new Forbidden Druid Es in for review, but in the meantime, if you’re keen to find out how the new motor rides, Mick has spent a little bit of time riding the Avinox M2S in the new Mondraker Zendit.

Forbidden has done away with the shorter 140mm-travel LitE version of the Druid E. Going forward, all of Forbidden’s high-pivot Druid e-MTBs will feature 150mm of rear squish.

Specs and pricing

Forbidden is offering the updated Druid E in four builds, each available with either a 600Wh or 800Wh battery.

Given the previous version started at $14,699.95 AUD and topped out at $19,599.95 AUD, these new models have stepped up significantly in price. Here’s what we do know of the new builds of the Avinox M2-equipped Forbidden Druid E.
