What you learned on Sapphire 2026 is that in general SAP is evolving from standalone AI tools to an orchestration layer that automates multi-step workflows for business user and developers. The ABAP platform team is very proud to be on the forefront of this and this was the major focus for all Sapphire ABAP AI sessions. In a nutshell we have announced the following key benefits for customers and partners of what will be made generally available in the first weeks of June:
ABAP AI now supports Agentic orchestration in Eclipse and VS Code with an ABAP MCP Server and multiple MCP tools
ABAP AI is available for lower releases of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition >=2021
Simplified enablement of ABAP AI via SAP for Me and Central Business Configuration with a new commercial model based on AI Unit consumption (->details how to purchase and on-board will follow soon and will be linked here)
Faster innovation with Side-by-Side consumption of SAP and 3rd party Agentic IDE, Orchestrators and LLMs (e.g. Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral…)
Agentic Custom Code Migration accelerates ECC to S/4HANA Transformation -> see the demo below
