#Part 8
In this blog, we will discuss in detail how to provision SAP Snowflake via Business Data Cloud Core.

Prerequisites

  • An active SAP Business Data Cloud subscription with a valid Entitlement System ID.
  • Access to SAP for Me (me.sap.com) with the appropriate provisioning roles.
  • SAP Business Data Cloud Core must be enabled — you will see the confirmation banner on the Applications tab.
  • Sufficient remaining Capacity Units in your contract to allocate to the new solution.
  • SAP Snowflake is purchased. It is available by request through SAP. Please contact your SAP account manager to request access
Note: The provisioning wizard is a guided, multi-step flow. Each step must be completed in sequence. You can navigate back using the Previous Step button to revise entries before finalising

Step-by-Step Provisioning Guide

Log in to SAP for Me and navigate to Portfolio & Products > Business Data Cloud. On the Applications tab, you will find all BDC applications that are available for provisioning within your entitlement, including:

  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • SAP Databricks
  • SAP Datasphere
  • SAP Datasphere, Data Composer
  • SAP HANA Cloud
  • SAP Business Data Cloud Connect
  • SAP Snowflake
  1. A green confirmation banner confirms that SAP Business Data Cloud Core is enabled, and provisioning can begin. Click Start Provisioning on the SAP Snowflake tile

  5. A confirmation message informs you that the provisioning request has been sent
  6. Click “View in Resources” to see the tenant within the indicated resource group.
  7. In the Resources tab, the status of the solution is “Processing” and will change to “Ready” once the provisioning is complete
  8. The system owner of SAP Snowflake tenant, specified during provisioning, receives an email notification when the tenant is provisioned
  9. Once the SAP Snowflake tenant is provisioned, navigate to Access Information > Main URL to find the account activation link.
  10. If you are the designated SAP Snowflake administrator, open the link and complete the account activation process. Otherwise, share the activation link with the SAP Snowflake administrator and request that they complete the activation.
  11. After the activation is complete, the SAP Snowflake account is ready for use. Users can sign in either through the SAP Snowflake account URL or the Main URL provided in the tenant’s Access Information section.
  12. Once the tenant is active, under ‘Customer Landscape’, you can see the system details of the new tenant. Also, the system integration is visually presented, making it easier to understand and navigate through your system landscape
  13. As a next step, you will have to add the tenant to the ‘Formation’, that you have already created and also added your BDC tenant to it
  14. Navigate to me.sap.com > Products & portfolio > Business Data Cloud > Customer Landscape > Formation
  15. Choose the correct Formation and then click on ‘Include System’ and choose the SAP Snowflake tenant to include in the formation, and save the changes
  16. A single Snowflake tenant can be part of one or more formations. Also, a single formation can include multiple Snowflake instances.

Activation of the SAP Snowflake Account

  1. Open the SAP Snowflake account using the activation link provided during provisioning.

  2. Create your username and password on the activation page.

  3. Complete the account setup by configuring your preferred Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method.

  4. Once setup is complete, you will receive an MFA confirmation and a welcome email with your account details.

  5. Your SAP Snowflake account will include a preconfigured Zerocopy Connector (DEFAULT_SAP_BDC_CONNECTOR), ready for use with SAP Business Data Cloud.

  6. You can now create SAP Business Data Cloud formations and begin sharing and consuming data products through your SAP Snowflake account.

Next Steps:

Once activated, your SAP Snowflake account is ready to receive data products shared from SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). During provisioning, a default Zerocopy Connector (DEFAULT_SAP_BDC_CONNECTOR) is automatically created and enrolled with SAP BDC.

You can create additional Zerocopy Connectors within the same SAP Snowflake account and connect them to the same or different SAP BDC tenants. Each connector requires a unique invitation link from SAP for Me, and each invitation link can only be used once.
To use additional connectors, create new instances of the SAP BDC Connect application and complete the enrollment process. See Snowflake documentation, Set Up SAP® BDC Connect for Snowflake Zerocopy Connector

You can monitor the provisioning status in the Details view. Once provisioning is complete, use the Snowflake activation link to activate your account, set up credentials, configure MFA, and complete any required account setup.

SAP BDC administrators can provision multiple SAP Snowflake accounts with unique account names as needed. Each account must be activated individually before use.

Now, you have successfully provisioned SAP Snowflake within the BDC Core.
