It’s popcorn time for an Agents vs. SAP Consultants showdown.
SAP job title is not the thing that’s at risk. Our job description is. Nobody’s eliminating “SAP Basis Consultant” as a title. What’s disappearing is the version of that job where you manually apply patches and get paged at 3 AM for a full disk a monitoring tool should’ve caught.
What’s appearing is a version of that job where you design the guardrails for a self-healing system, decide what it’s allowed to touch in production, and own the accountability conversation when something goes sideways.
Same title. Completely different job.
That’s true for basically every role I covered in the SAP Consultants-vs-Agents breakdown this week.
The people who panic about the title survive worse than the people who redesign the job description before someone else does it for them.
