As of release SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608, there is an alternative to expert configuration for depreciation keys:
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608, SAP provides configurable depreciation profiles that replace the previously predefined depreciation keys. Pilot customers can already use the configurable depreciation profiles in this release; all other customers can already see the depreciation profiles on the UI. In a later release, the previous depreciation keys will be completely replaced by configurable depreciation profiles for all customers.

If you have decided to become a pilot customer, create a separate support case to ask SAP to activate the depreciation profile feature. For the support case, you should use the following parameters:
- Support component: FI-AA-AA
- Priority: Medium
- Subject: Request for Depreciation Profiles
- For the system selection when reporting issues, please refer to the KBA 3795748 – CE2608 – Introduction of Configurable Depreciation Profiles – SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition
Referenced system:- By default, you specify the production system (system type PROD).
- If you only have one starter system, you specify your starter system.
- If you only have one partner demo system, you specify your partner demo system.
- If you have an ordinary system landscape but do not yet have a production system, but only a test system, you specify the test system.
SAP then checks if your system is ready to switch to the depreciation profiles.
(A possible rejection reason could be that your country is not yet technically enabled for the depreciation profiles.)
If you plan to request depreciation keys for a country/region for which SAP does not deliver country/region-specific content (so-called CLT country), note the following: SAP will not approve this request for expert configuration. Instead, SAP recommends that you request depreciation profiles.
If your system is a new installation, SAP recommends also that you request depreciation profiles and take advantage of the configurable depreciation profiles right from the start.
However, if you still want to use the expert configuration service for depreciation keys, use the depreciation key template, perform the required actions, and specify the transport number. Please note that pre-approved expert configuration for depreciation keys in Asset Accounting is not supported for parallel line. If you need additional depreciation keys, request and implement the pre-approved expert configuration in the main line.
