[[{“value”:”Anthropic just announced Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. It comes to you first instead of waiting for a prompt. Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5 on its own computer in the cloud, so it keeps working after you close the app. Each morning it sends you a short brief from your connected apps, and during the day it messages you only when something needs your attention. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything, it shows you what it’s about to do and waits for your approval. Anthropic says Duet’s main strength is judgment: deciding what needs you and what can wait.
The field is getting crowded. xAI launched Grok Bot in August, Meta launched Muse on September 8, and OpenAI launched dots on September 29. Each one runs on its own cloud computer.
The catch is that Duet shares your plan’s usage limits, and its background check-ins count toward them, so you may hit your limits sooner than with chat alone.
Claude Duet is a research preview. It’s opening by waitlist to Pro and Max subscribers in the US, at no extra cost. It isn’t available on Team or Enterprise plans yet.
