Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone arrives on November 6, and this fully integrates the new Call of Duty into battle royale. The season update replaces Black Ops 7’s maps with two Modern Warfare-themed maps, overhauls Warzone’s movement, introduces new game mechanics, and adds an operator-skin toggle feature. Here is everything you need to know when Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 goes live in Warzone.
Additionally, Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 adds a new battle pass, more multiplayer maps and modes, and plenty of new DMZ content. There are four new DLC weapons to unlock for use in MW4 and battle royale. This big update also also celebrates the launch of Warzone on the Nintendo Switch 2.
MW4 integration and level reset
Season 1 marks the start of a new year of Warzone, meaning all players will be reset to player level one. Players will have the choice to level up and prestige across multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone.
All of Modern Warfare 4’s operators, weapons, attachments, and camos will be available to use in battle royale. However, Warzone’s “legacy” weapons will work differently this year. The older guns from the last three Call of Duty games will become “legacy” weapons, and while they are still available to use, they will no longer be customizable in the Gunsmith.
Black Ops 7’s omnimovement is also removed from the game, transitioning battle royale to Modern Warfare 4’s scaled-back movement with fluid sliding and mantling mechanics.
New Warzone maps

For Season 1, DMZ’s Hajin will launch as Warzone’s large standard battle royale map, while Zodiac arrives as the smaller Resurgence map. All other Warzone maps will be removed from the game.
Hajin features the same points-of-interest as the DMZ version of the map, and it will also include the mode’s dynamic weather with rain and fog. However, the battle royale version of the map will feature Warzone’s 1v1 Gulag arena, and there will be two Gulag layouts for players to experience.
Verdansk and Rebirth Island will both return later in the season, allowing a rotation of maps for both battle royale and Resurgence modes. Black Ops 7’s Avalon and the Fortune’s Keep Resurgence map are not expected to return.
New Warzone features
Zipline Launcher
Season 1 adds the new Zipline Launcher, which is a device that players can use to create anchors and a zipline for traversing Warzone’s various terrain. Once deployed, the Zipline Launcher will remain active on the map until it’s either retrieved or destroyed.
Grabber Drone
The Grabber Drone is a rare drone equipped with a device capable of picking up various loot, environmental objects, and even operators. Players can use this drone to pick up a downed teammate and move them closer for a revive, retrieve difficult to reach weapons and other items, and even retrieve loot from a Buy Station.
Interactive objects
This new season adds interactive objects to Warzone’s map, including explosive fuel barrels, which can be picked up and placed in strategic ways. There are also several items players can move around the maps, such as dumpsters, cable spools, and construction equipment to either provide cover or block enemy pathways.
Additional gameplay adjustments

Other changes include gameplay adjustments:
- Tactical Sprint will be available to all Operators without the need for a perk, but its duration is slightly shortened
- Players can drag their allies while reviving them, pulling them out of harm’s way
- Additional weapon-balance tuning
- Improved visibility and readability across all maps
- Improved footstep audio
Activision says more details on these new gameplay adjustments and specific weapon tuning will arrive with Warzone’s Season 1 patch notes later in the week.
Warzone support ends for PS4 and Xbox One
As previously announced, Warzone will no longer be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as Modern Warfare 4 ditches the older generation of console hardware. Players will still keep progression if they return to a supported platform and use the same linked Activision account.
Operator-skin toggle
Warzone’s new operator-skin toggle feature is also arriving with Season 1. Warzone is currently filled with wacky skins and cel-shaded characters introduced in recent years, but players can toggle on a filter to remove any of these outlandish skins and replace them all with Modern Warfare 4 operators. The toggle also only impacts the user’s game, and it does not alter the experience of others. This new feature will be off by default.
