The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has just been remastered, and for some reason, there are people struggling to figure out the basics of powerleveling their skills. There are so many methods that people have shared over the last 19 years, and plenty of them still work in the remaster as it is almost exactly the same game still. Here is how you grind up illusion in the game.
How to Level Up Illusion in The Elder Scrolls IV – Oblivion Remastered
In order to level up your illusion, you literally just have to spam illusion spells. Just like any other school of magic in the game, or any other skill for that matter, you simply need to do it in order to level it up.
In the case of illusion magic, your only real option to grind it quickly is to spam it literally anywhere and everywhere until you are satisfied with your current level. It does not matter which illusion spell you pick, but if possible, go for one that has the highest magicka cost you can find.
Since you do not have infinite magicka, you will need to constantly be regenerating it to keep spamming. Luckily, you can completely replenish your magicka, and even health and fatigue, by just waiting. Even a single hour of ingame time is enough to fill up your mana bar.
That is literally all you need to do. We have no idea why you would even need a guide for this in particular, but since you are here anyway, we may as well try to give you an extra bit of advice for powerleveling.
If you want to have an extremely costly illusion spell, at least in terms of magicka, consider making a custom spell that has incredibly strong effects and high duration. Just do everything in your power to make it as expensive as possible but still usable at your current stats.
On that note, check out our guide on how to make your own spells in the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered to learn where you can do so. This will show you how to get a free wizard’s tower of your own to train and craft spells in.
Alternatively, you can also go to the Mages Guild chapter in Bravil. They have NPCs who sell various illusion spells ranging from novice ones all the way up to higher mastery tiers. Players starting out might want to buy Starlight from Delphine Jend to begin the grind.
So, to sum it up, all you need to do is find a spot where you can wait and then start spamming the best illusion spells you have to gain as much experience as possible per cast. Whenever you run out of magicka, simply restore it by waiting an hour, which should only take a second or two.
If you have a lot of gold to make or buy new spells, do this either in a spot where you have access to an altar of spell making or do it at Bravil’s Mages Guild chapter. Otherwise, just spam whatever you can afford.
That is all there is to it. Leveling up in Oblivion, especially in this remastered version with a few minor changes, is already a joke. There is no need to overcomplicate it, as cheesing it is as simple as just standing still and casting the same spell over and over again.
While you are still here, consider checking out our guide on how to cure diseases free & quick in Oblivion Remastered too. The altars that you use for curing diseases can also supposedly fill up your magicka, which would let you powerlevel there without needing to fiddle with the wait interface.
