The MRT Putrajaya Line service is back to normal today after the power supply issue – discovered on March 3 and due to cable theft – was rectified. With that, the alternative train service and free shuttle buses provided to bridge the gap ends.
To recap, the service disruption started on March 3 due to a power supply problem near the Damansara Damai station. Trains coming from Putrajaya Sentral (and KL) had to turn back at the Metro Prima station in Kepong while trains coming from Kwasa Damansara turned back after making the short journey to Damansara Damai. A shuttle train between Metro Prima and Damansara Damai was introduced.
Rapid Rail says that throughout the disruption, it deployed nearly 180 extra staff to assist passengers at affected stations, in addition to 20 free buses.
The rail operator has made a police report at the Damansara police station and is cooperating with PDRM on the cable theft investigations. As a prevention measure, Rapid Rail is stepping up safety monitoring on its tracks and facilities by auxiliary police patrols. The public is urged to report suspicious activities at train tracks – call Rapid KL’s customer service at 03-78852585 or the cops if you see anything shady.
