With SAP IBP 2608, new Best Practices content for Characteristics-Based Planning, or CBP, is available based on the I_SAPIBP2 planning area. CBP enhances planning by considering specific attributes of products, demand, and supply, helping ensure that customer demands with defined characteristics are fulfilled only by supply elements that meet those requirements.
In this SAP IBP release highlight, see how the new Best Practices content helps accelerate implementation while giving teams the flexibility to tailor the solution to their own business rules and constraints. The content includes a dedicated configuration guide, an integration solution process, and a solution process with real-world business scenarios.
You’ll learn how the configuration guide supports enhancements to the I_SAPIBP2 planning area, including characteristic-based planning attributes such as color, quality, market group, and country of origin. You’ll also see how real-time integration transfers characteristics, master data, and transactional data into SAP IBP.
The video also walks through an example business scenario using characteristics and a flexible rule framework to guide supply decisions. For example, quality A stock may be allowed to fulfill quality B demand in one market group, while another market group may require exact matches. If no suitable stock is available, production can be triggered for the required quality.
